Nello Musumeci is the Minister for Civil Protection and Marine Policies.

He was twice President of the Province of Catania, MEP for three legislatures and, until last September, President of the Sicilian Region. During his institutional commitment, Minister Musumeci was, in the field of civil protection, Government Commissioner for the volcanic emergency on Etna in 2001 and confirmed Commissioner for reconstruction the following year. He was, among other things, delegate for the water crisis in the Province of Palermo, for storm surges on the island of Salina, for toxic gases on the island of Vulcano and, in the last five years, commissioner of the national government for the fight against hydrogeological instability in Sicily.

On 22 October 2022 he was sworn in as Minister in the hands of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.
